I was thinking the same thing. I use maybe 2 pairs a year. But I don't have fuel stains running down the side of my tanks either.

To the OP, I take my shoes/boots off in the truck and drive in my slippers.

    Safetstep low cuts.

    Beautiful cut for driving.

    Great feel under your toes.

    Made in the USA.

    Last ya 3 years.

    $10 per year for shoes.

    Pretty good!

You won't need steel toe boots for school. Unless you're in flatbed or tanker division, your normal shoes for school will be fine.

I bet you haven't seen this model yet. I'm going to snatch a couple of these up.

I will wear both boots or shoes, but not steel toes. I have delivered and picked up all over the country on many sites that require them, I have never ever had anyone feel to see if my work boots had steel toes or not, EXCEPT for The inspection to get on Exxons ice road. They inspect the truck, but first they inspect you, you have to get all suited up in your artic gear, including steel toes with ice grippers on the bottom to go through the inspection, then drive 50 more miles with the monstrous boots all chained up, what a freaking wreck. My first trip I did this, the second I had a pair of insulated carbon fiber toe tennis shoes to go through the inspection with, then switch to my boots to unload when I get on site.

Do yourself a favor and buy a good pair of boots when you start getting a regular check. You only get issued one pair of feet in life and if you don't take care of them, the rest of life can be miserable. Been wearing Nick's Custom made boots since High School, over 30 years ago. On my 3rd pair and I worked construction for 25 of those years... Worth every penny, fully custom and fully rebuildable.
