When someone buys a truck.All your doing is buying a ''job'' for yourself..I have not met one O/O that has got RICH in trucking..

I myself make great money.It is just to bad I DO NOT get to keep it..I have to pay out on AVG 66% YEARLY to even run my very small business.This year i brought home 34% of my gross..

 

I would call it being cautious not negative. I'm usually not one to rain on somebody's parade just that Over the last few years I have seen many O/Os drop like flies.


For me personally let me know how I can buy 100 trucks and 120 trailers, a warehouse, and a raise a million dollars in operating capital. So then I can work 2 days a week and make six figures. That's the only kind of trucking business I'd be interested in. Otherwise like someone else said you're just buying yourself a job.

So long as you see your life as being someone else's lacky, you will always be their lacky.

You can't see past being an employee, then be an employee. Others can and do and THAT is what sets us apart.

 

I can see well past the employee corner, in fact skipping the self employed corner which you seem to be stuck in, and looking into entering the business corner. The good side of the quadrant:

 

Those are the only shakers that I like (FLD), but 700+ on a detroit with no records I would be sketchy? If you do get a dyno and check the comp and both come up good and they have maint records. I would test drive and after dyno send off oil analysis too be extra carefull. You should still have enough money set aside for major repairs if possible!!! (it's always a crapshoot, but you do want the odds in you favor as much as possible!!)

 

sure. If that's what makes you happy is other people coming crying to you begging you for this that and the other thing.

Personal happiness is just that. Personal. So while you see being self-employed as the same as an employee, I see a business owner (in your diagragm) as just a smothering as being an employee.

Sucks that someone else is happy in something you don't think they should be.....

Well put!! I know alot of drivers who've said the same thing "U CAN'T GET RICH DRIVING A TRUCK".. It's not money from driving that keeps me going (well partially, lol), it's what I do with my money from driving and how I re-invest it!!! If you're always working for your money, and never put it to work for you then you will be working alot longer than those who do..

 

Define "RICH"....
