Its best if you are a half mile or more off shore.
But seriously- there is a recent thread on this.

I would drive Chicago 10 times a day versus once in NYC. My first experience with NYC the other day and NY drivers do not know how to merge, try and force their way into your truck trying to get in, are rude, inconsiderate and, frankly, are the worst drivers I've ever seen.

    80 from I55 to I80/I94 split
is as bad as anywhere in the country
    only ruder truck drivers inhabit
    Long Beach roads driving containers
and around Gary you have to shut off
your CB for all the political genius's pontificating

Chicago sucks during rush hr but a breeze say 4 am.I have delivered there many times.Just make sure to get directions directly from the customer and not from your GPS or your company.Because chances are they're getting map quest directions.

Second all emotions re Chicago vs NYC, also throw in NJ with NYC. Love them NY/NJ folk -- as long as they're not operating anything with a motor and wheels. Chicago is a puddy cat in comparison. NJ? You're apparently very proud of your silly NJTP logo, but signs that simply say NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE would suffice, especially when you have weeds blocking most of your signs.

The last curve on I94/I90 west before the I-55 merge is known to be a mirror smacker for the weenie heads that can't maintain lane control. When I worked for Central three of our drivers got their mirrors smacked there.

As long as you avoid rush hour and run with the flow it isn't bad. For a newbie it might be if you don't know your exits and splits.
