What do you like about trucking?

The money!

 

Not being in a sweat shop all day breaking your back just to have a boss breathing down your neck all the time like you dont do enough!

Not sitting in a cubicle staring at a screen all day till your eyes go crossed!

Not having to be laid off every year for a few months because of cyclical manufacturing ordering!

Not sitting on the phone all day having to track down product!

Not sitting around the house all day arguing with my wife or listening to loud kids...lol!

I do like the honeymoon that I will have with my wife once a month when I come home for home time...

The content feeling of fresh air and peace when being out traveling on your own!

etc,etc,etc.....

 

Entertaining indeed! But you should probably warn the guy that he will also see things that he wishes he could un-see!

 

I always loved the surprise of where we were going to next! The qualcomm would beep and we would fight over it! Didn't matter where we went, it was always an adventure. Sure some places are more beautiful then others but all are unique. Some drivers complain about not wanting to go certain places but that's the fun of it. The more challenging, the more fun! Then there are the repeat places you get to go and you know what to expect. Most likely have made a few friends there last time and now its more like a visit.

In the same breath, it ain't easy! You really have to hustle and run a tight ship to make the big bucks! If you do have a bad day there's no going home to kick back in the recliner with a beer and forget about it!

Long days, sleeping alone in my truck, showering in nasty places and not being home enough...

But now, after 11 mths of that, I get short days, rarely sleep in my truck, shower, get home all the time while making the same if not more money!...

 

For me its the lure of being on my own. No one breathing down my neck. Thats why I'm getting back into it after 10 yrs as a Paramedic.

 

I remember when you started posting... are you in the same company? Is that Watkins? Driving local now?

 

for me its the fact that i get in my rig and go, only thing i need to know is where my load is going and where i have to go to get my next....that and the friends i make along the way....
