While I am not a female. I started out at 48 after getting hurt overseas and not being able to fly anymore.
I have run into a lot of female drivers and had a young lady in my class that loves it.
Age does not seem to hamper a few of our guys that are in there mid 70s and still driving.
It will be what you make of it.
Good Luck

Your really set to doing trucking then by all means go for it.just make sure you can handle all the stress that goes with it.I have enjoyed it ever since 1980,but now a days it is stressful in many ways. But just about any job is.
) Find you a good company that will help you with training and hook you up with a FEMALE TRAINER,unless you want a MALE trainer who says you must put out to pass your training. But then again,i have heard where newbie female drivers have found the love of thier life with a male trainer also.
0 Its rare tho.Anyways, getting into trucking is a joy....sometimes.you do see many sites and places you never seen before. But take my advice and stay out of the mountains in winter time if you can.Unless you enjoy chaining up.
( I drove for companys running mountains, but told them if i gotta chain up,the truck will set somewhere until the chain law is raised. And i have set a couple hrs and even more.I wont chain up no matter what.you gotta chain up,then its not safe to even drive in my opinion.Oh,and dont waste your money at these CDL schools,go with a company who pays you while in training. It aint much pay,but you get a lot more and better exp than what these schools offer.Best opf luck to you young lady and if its in your blood, then go for it.it can be a great life or a great headache.10-4

I think asking yourself if you are comfortable being on your own and away from home for days at a time, woudl be more what you need to think about.
If you are comfortable being alone and in different places then you should probably be fine.
I know plenty of guys that have started out in their 40's and in fact I know a couple that started in their fifty's.
I know a guy who was a corporate exec for 20 years and after retirement he left his wife at home and took up trucking.
He loves it and wishes he did it a long time ago. (so does his wife)
42 is young. If you are in good health and can live with yourself for periods of time away from home, go for it. -
Hey Bex
I start school in two weeks, on my 43rd birthday. Good luck to you! -
LOL, I'm 44 and in my third day at Roehls RDTC. I got to Marshfield thinking I would be the oldest in my class, ends up I'm the youngest of the six in our class. All of us are doing a second career.

I'm 43 and I get on a Greyhound Sunday morning for the trip down to Phoenix for orientation with Swift. Age doesn't matter all that much, but it helps to stay in shape so that work isn't so much work!
