Yeah he had to type that email. Sucks to be him if he did a poor job bidding or happens to be double brokering - well, if the latter is true probably not. Trucks follow the money he's a broker and ought to know it. I'd just scratch his company off the "these are decent people to work with" and tell him remove me from your email list.

Called this morning and talked to the vice president and tried to explain to him what happened. He asked if I was the idiot that made the offer and if I wanted to stay inactive. I told him if he permitted that type of behavior and said he was going to look into it and was going to call me back because he had a webinar to attend, typical answer or I have a meeting to attend call u later. I guess I'm just wasting my time. I'm used to this type of behavior from brokers but this is the first time I get it on email.

400 carriers have better things to haul and yet the carriers are the idiots? That's the kettle calling the pot black. Common sense ought to dictate the rate should go up if they want it covered and yet greed gets the best of them, or stupidity for bidding it low. You don't have to if you don't want to but me I'd post them up so everyone knows who they are. Based off what an agent and now the president of the company said, they need trucks, but only if the trucks will work for nothing.

Sounds to me like the V.P. should pony up the balance of funds for the load if they did not like what you needed to move it.

Here is the email with the agents info. The VP that I talked to this morning is Rob Hopper. He did not call me back.
I don't need to do business with individuals that think we owe them something and think of carriers as idiots and crazy people for asking for a fair rate.
The good thing is that I don't have to erase there junk emails anymore.

    All,

Have a load of pipe from Pinellas Park to Ft Pierce FL..loads today after lunch delivers tomorrow am..no tarp. 7K..$500..OUT of
400 carriers NO one has a truck to help me. Come on guys..I did have one idiot ask for $1000..he is made inactive now..don't need crazy

    Best Regards,
    Sean

I often wonder why some of these brokers like Sean Gresham don't think outside of the box a little bit. The problem with this load @ $500 is we have to try to get something out of Ft. Pierce worth hauling. Maybe Sean Gresham would be better off to try to find that load, work a deal with that broker where he refers his trucks to him. I don't know if he'd get the load moved for $500, but I'll bet if he could have helped you find a decent reload without much deadhead you may have come down from $1000 some, am i right ??

If he expects that load moved for $500 he either thinks we should be able to find that next load or else he doesn't understand our business. If he thinks we should be able to find that load then he should have an incentive to do so to help make his shipment more appealing. And if he doesn't understand our business he shouldn't be selling our services to begin with. And if he cannot find a load paying decent within 100 miles of there either, then he should understand why you need $1000 to haul it.

IDK, maybe it's too much for us crazy idiots to expect Sean Gresham to understand anything above 200 miles = $500.

There's a market for brokers like this and you're not in it. No reason for Sean or his boss to get all butt hurt over your quote. Sounds like the bridge that got burned was a real tiny one you'll hardly notice.
