i don't sleep never have since i lived on the farm, those milking the cows were fun all hour's of the day and night, so most i sleep was 5 hour power nap, then up and have a go at milking, i then carried this over too trucking and worked well for me, i mean after you drive 10-11 hour's, i just sit there too unwind from all the stress from the day of road rage people , most time's i just laugh at the idiot's and say too myself, stay tune for tomorrow , it's gonna be better, why because it gonna rain tomorrow and they get really crazy then .
What does running hard mean to you?

One thing I would add for myself is that the company I work for allways has loads ready to go . We are given appointment delivery times but what i do is get there as quick as i can (drive 11 with a half hour break when i get fuel and only 10 off then go 11 again) and then try to arrange early delivery myself. Basically i just call the receiver and ask if they want it early. Most times they take it and thats good as now i can get my reset in and be back on my way. Going south from canada to california means a reset is needed after getting back to deliver in canada. Then load up and hammer down and back , reset , do it all again. I think thats what running hard means to me, just making hay while the sun shines so to speak. Go while the goings good, because it does and will slow down for every company at some stage and i want to make the most of it while its good going.

Running harx for me is running efficiently - for example today I had a 0900 del appt then a 1600 live load 120 miles away. Since my clock was running I went to the shipper early and was told "we've got the firat part of your load ready but the rest might not be ready until 20004/23 but we'll check". They checked and 30 minutes later I was rolling out the gate. By picking up four hours of extra drive time today I knocked an entire day of the load, thus giving me the potential to earn another $200 this week.

Running hard to me means minimal breaks and getting the job done and time management. That might mean eating while driving and a couple quickies in a rest area.
Some will stretch their 14 out. When you do that it makes your break end later. Some deliveries are first come first serve. You don't want to be the last truck in line.
Get 'er done! -
franktaylor and str8rida Thank this.
