EPA has released a new Clean Trucks plan:
Final EPA Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles to Slash Dangerous Pollution and Take Key Step Toward Accelerating Zero-Emissions Future | US EPA

    Short version is:
The Environmental Protection Agency’s new rule is the first update to the standards since 2001. It will cut down on the smog and soot from heavy-duty trucks by requiring them to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides by nearly 50% by 2045, and will be more than 80% stronger than the current standard, the agency said.

But I haven't seen any posts on here but on other sites like Youtube it looks like it's a big deal from the comments being posted. Is this new ruling something that has come out of nowhere or are you sort of expecting it to be overturned, or something else?

What hat did they pull these numbers from
    • Up to 2,900 fewer premature deaths
    • 6,700 fewer hospital admissions and emergency department visits
    • 18,000 fewer cases of childhood asthma
    • 3.1 million fewer cases of asthma symptoms and allergic rhinitis symptoms
    • 78,000 fewer lost days of work
    • 1.1 million fewer lost school days for children
    • $29 billion in annual net benefits

It's just another tax. I think they are updating the law to reflect the emissions equipment on trucks now.

    ZERO Emissions future?
The intellectual decline of those fools hired up there is really staggering. Who the hell do they hire those fools to make such statements?
Every earthly method of harnessing or converting energy involves mechanisms and auxiliary products that, in turn, also require environmentally compromising development. For example, have you ever asked yourself how toxic the production of DEF is?! Or what happens to all that "junk equipment" that has completed its lease at Swift or Prime after barely 4 years of utilization!!!

Maybe they think, they can move the production over to ... Bangladesh or Sri Lanka and let those people there worry about asthma?

They spoke out of their arse, of course. Honest LOL now!
Everybody, with a little bit of exposure in this industry, can do the same exercise and reverse the statement.

    1. Up to 50 000 more annual heart attacks of owner-operators due to additional stress that the failure and deficiencies of the upgraded equipment causes.
    2. 20 000 more hospital admissions for and emergency department visits due to the above
    3. 36 000 more cases of the after-treatment system circumventions and straight-out deletes
    4. 100 000 more days of work to be lost due to the system failures - how long does it take to wait your turn on any warranty work done these days: one week, two weeks?
    5. $100 billion of potential business losses due to equipment failure as we know it today.
    6. $100 billion of increased transportation cost, therefore a substantial contributory factor of inflation, resulting from the above.

I have nothing sensible to add. In 2045, I will be 86 years old, if I am still living which I doubt.

    Let'er rip...

    LOL.
Looking at your avatar, I thought you were that old already.
I'll be 74 and hopefully drinking wine and eating cheese while playing chess with the grandchildren on my secluded house porch, in the middle of nowhere, yet very far from this liberal malaria...

Exactly. The net carbon output from production of new trucks must be quite high compared to maintaining and keeping 5-10 year old equipment on the road. Or even anything prior to 2012
