What does the term "dove tail in" mean?

may mean those air faring on the trailers. -
It is a Union term. If you had a terminal with with 5 drivers and the number of years of experience was 10, 8, 7, 4 and 3 years and a driver transferring to that terminal had 5 years of experience with the company he/she would DOVETAIL in between the 7 year employee and the 4 year employee. If a union driver is force to resign and start over at the other terminal without dovetail then that driver would be below the 3 year driver in seniority.
