Agreed. The only similarities in them is they are about the same size. Obviously built to compete for the same market.
What engine with DEF is having the least amount of problems?

Well, there is a couple things they have in common. The biggest of which is the Kubota engine painted yellow in the Cat, LOL.
Getting back to engines....my DD15 doesn't like idling or light loads either, but on the highway it runs just like a good old engine. No problems at all.
When I work as just the dump truck without my trailer I gross 36,000KG or 79,000 pounds and around town it asks for a parked regen every 8 hours or so.
But on the highway it does it all on it's own and never gives me a problem.
Dry air and replacing your air dryer every fall are extremely important with them though. I was having problems with what I thought was the DEF freezing.....but it was the air that runs the SCR system that was freezing.BigHossVolvo, Notchpeak and Grijon Thank this. -
Are the small Kubota engines still used to power reefers?

I think the physical existence of a engine that requires a fluid to comply with emissions is a problem anyhow... //snarky....
Fear not, there is a new Tesla Cabover coming that will do 300 miles on electric power with 80,000 pounds gross. Not a drop of fuel anywhere.Edjahman Thanks this. -

I might have to layover!
