I too have a very large inverter. 5000/10000 watt from Harbor Freight. Works great, and powers EVERTYTHING in the truck..lol -
What about problems with a household style fridge caused by all the jostling stuff takes in the truck? I talked to one driver who said he had a problem with his fridge losing freon.

If you figure $2.00 a day for ice and twenty days a month on the road you are looking at $40 a month just in ice. Over the course of a year you are spending $480 in ice. Of course that is still cheaper than eating out. One meal can equal four days worth of ice. If a dorm fridge could keep my stuff and lasted a year I would still be adding hundreds to my bottom line.

I drive about 61 mph, but what does that have to do with available options for a fridge/cooler in the truck?

so i finally got fed up with going through 2 bags of ice a day for a savings of 5 bucks a day, 25 a week. walked into my local wally world earlier today and saw a 2.7 cu foot black and decker fridge/freezer for 79 bucks. here is the link.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-and-Decker-2.7-cu-ft-Refrigerator-with-Freezer-White/15715124
went to home depot, bought 8 feet of 6 gauge gas/oil resistant wire, and the connectors. that was 25 bucks, the wire was $1.14 a foot which is not bad by any means. i needed 2 different size crimp connectors, and those were 3 bucks a box so i had to get 2 boxes.
it took longer to remove the cabinet behind the drivers seat than it did to run the wire. there was a big enough space for me to feed the wires in the wall to the side box. the grommet had a place for 4 wires to slide through so i used two of them and ran them to the batteries. a few zip ties and it was all over.
i ran the tractor for about 30 minutes and the freezer tray had ice building up in no time. my inverter is a road pro 500 watt that someone gave me so i had no expense there.
i have a heavy duty drop cord run to the truck now, with the fridge plugged in so it will stay cold when i am home. i can leave drinks in there and do a short run and not have to wait for the temp to cool down, not to mention the time it takes to cool the drinks.
for those who are wondering, i am in a mid roof single bunk 05 Volvo. i took the cabinet behind the driver seat out and the fridge fit perfectly. i am tall, so with the seat all the way back, it pins the fridge against the bunk perfectly so the door wont fly open going down the road.
i chose to mount the inverter inside the sleeper as i noticed the cooling fan runs when the fridge is running. it never ran with the tv and digital tuner connected. so seeing how i keep the cab like an eskimos living room, i do not have to worry about it getting hot. it gets great airflow.
it took me about 2 hours once i had everything. about an hour and a half running around to get the wiring and fridge, then it was all down hill from there. the 100 bucks a month i was spending on ice will be worth the savings alone. now i can take milk and cheese and stuff with me so i wont have to be finding somewhere to eat.
my next item i need to find is a small microwave. my inverter is a 1000 watt peak, 500 constant so a small microwave would work as long as the fridge was unplugged. and i mean a small one. no rotating tray small. i could always get a bigger inverter. it wont take a few seconds to swap it out. we will see what momma allows me to spend in the coming weeks.
and if it lasts a year, then good. i bought the one year extended warranty for 6 more dollars so i get a 2 year warranty.
