There's very litte you will need to have right away. My assistance would be to delay until you are in a vehicle, then begin doing some looking. When I move vehicles, I end up income, because items I had in one vehicle don't fit in the next.

how often are yall swapping rigs? i was just curious also as to how often do you leave your rig with the shop. im hoping for OTR for a few months at a time. how long do they go before you have to turn them in to the shop for servicing?

When you need service you get to the nearest terminal and fill out your work order(Check engine light, oil change/fluid check, drivetires replacement etc.).If possible you do this when on your 34 hour reset or when you have hometime accumulated so you don't lose too much pay for downtime. If it needs a lot of work they might just put you in another truck.
One item that I haven't seen mentioned that you need is a subzero rated sleeping bag ,they want you to keep idling down to a minimum,so unless you have an APU,a thermal sleeping bag is a must when you head up north.

The outlets will work but you don't want to run too much with the engine off or you'll drain the truck battery. Some trucks come with an Auxillary Power Unit (APU)that you run to provide AC or heat for your 10 hour break in the sleeper cab.My son's company (Swift) takes the APUS out and sells them, the only way for him to get heat or AC is to idle the engine. So far he hasn't needed heat (he started solo in Sept) He says other drivers told him you can over ride the auto shutdown on the truck, but it hasn't been necessary yet, because he has a sub zero rated mummy style coleman sleeping bag. When he was training in the summer his mentor was an owner -op who could idle as much as he wanted.

    readytotruck84 Thanks this.

Now here's the type person that would fit into RV hauling but keep his present job and haul RV's while off . No , he won't make much money but he won't throw away thousands of dollars to get a CDL and waste months applying to school , waiting to start school , go through school , wait for orientation , go to orientation , wait for a trainer , spend time with a trainer , wait for a truck , then wait for loads .

Stock up on money and knowledge. You are way, way ahead of yourself. Don't buy anything for the truck until you are given keys to your own. You know, after you ride with a trainer a bit before being cut loose to try life on the road.
