At some point in the future I would not be surprised if some law might get put in place giving a creditor some way to get your license restricted or revoked for non payment of a debt. Similar to what is in place today for non payment of child support. If this ever happens you won't be able to just walk away from a debt like this.
What happens if someone goes to company sponsored CDL school, and then quits?

Then just do the right thing and pay off the debt... Or go to a different school in the first place...

I almost had to go into a contract to get my cdl. I have a local agency that was willing to give me a grant to get my cdl, but required a pre hire letter. I called 20 companies and had almost given up and signed into a company sponsored cdl school before I finally found one that would send me one. All of the other companies just wanted that contract. Didnt matter that with 5 minutes of their time I could have went to any school for free. Called Pride and they said no problem and had me a pre hire letter in 10 minutes. So I start cdl school on April 4th and if all goes well will start with Pride afterwards just because they were the only ones willing to help out. Plus in my research they seem decent.
Just glad I didnt end up having to sign anything and be indebted to a company. Would have completed it if I had, but I know it can sometimes be rough when they have indentured slaves to run their loads. -
I'll do just that. Find another job. Thank you!

But stay open to them too... It may help to have the debt dropped should they try to pursue it.

Well, if they would do this, why not just bring back debtors prison? If you can't be jailed for a debt (except for debts with the IRS), then why would they want to try to mess around with a drivers license? Most of these company sponsored CDL training things are overpriced already for what they are actually even making sure you learn. Look at Swifts safestat, I did earlier and they've had something like 55 (if I remember correctly) fatal crashes in the last 24 months. They teach you the very minimum you need to "pass" your road test and get your license. You are suppose to stay employed with them making less than chump change for a period of 1 year to not have to repay their overpriced training, when you in actuality have paid far more than that considering all the team driving you will have done with their trainer who pretty much only trains you enough that he feels "safe" enough to "sleep" while you drive. Nevermind the fact he is sleeping with one eye open. I was going to go through Prime PSD when I only had my Class B to get my Class A. I ended up leaving before I ever set foot on a truck with a trainer and that was that. Went to work for a small construction company where I used their truck to get my Class A and was trained for that without having to pay some huge amount if I left less than a year later, or whatever. I couldn't imagine the law ever granting a debt collector to do anything to your driver license. Look at what all they try to do already to your credit reports. In my case, every single thing, whether I owed it or not with the exception of 3 charge-offs I have gotten removed from my credit reports on my own. Debt collectors will never have power such as this. They don't deserve it, either. That's why most creditors now make #### certain you're credit worthy before they even offer you a can of peas.
