i had my physical 4 months ago. current company made me. i still had 15 months on the card i had.
i had my physical last year and renewed my license. nothing has ever been said about a second pair. and i'm on my 8th med card.
all that's required is that ypu can see 20/40. both license and med card.
and with what few inspections i've had. not once have i been asked for a second pair.

The second pair is not a legal / regulation.. however get caught without corrective lenses while driving and you'll be placed OOS until you do get them.. explain that service failure to your company.. MOST people keep their old glasses so there is absolutely zero reason not to have at LEAST one spare set on the truck.

I had lazik done to correct my vision.
So familiar with the issue a but.
If you license shows a corrective lens restriction, you are required to be wearing them while driving. That's a general medical law not even related to the cdl.
If need be, I'll find the appropriate MN law to support that as well. Searches on a phone for that stuff sucks.
Found it. Other states are similar if you search your state eye glasses restriction.

with so many people wearing contacts that are hard to see. i don't even think the cops would question it.
they never questioned me. and i didn't use them that much. -
i called a dot medical examiner and they told me since i have 1 good/great eye that i can see better then 20/20 in and it over compensates for my bad 20/400 eye i would be fine passing the eye exam but on here i read you have to have 20/40 better in both eyes so with 20/20 in right and 20/400 in my left eye but see perfect with both eyes open will i be able to pass the dot physical or not
