I’ve had my CLP for 2 months now (the wait time for a road test is awfully long here in Texas) and I can drive the trucks with no problems, I’ve been driving them since I was 15 on a farm. I’ve had to take some local trips and move a couple Tractor/trailers (mostly under 30 miles) but I know that with only a CLP you need a CDL holder in the truck with you in order to legally drive them. I’m just wondering what would happen if I happened to get pulled over driving a CMV without a CDL holder in the truck.
Thanks in advance.
What happens if you get pulled over driving a CMV w/ only your CLP

Id say it would probably have the same effect as Driving without a License? Course, never been busted for it so dont really know? Let us know if you find out? Enquiring minds wanna know?

You might not be able to get a CDL in the future. Worst case.
Renegades aren't rewarded in today's society. You're more likely to be dragged to the gallows, especially if you hurt someone being uncredentialed.
Be very careful.Alex12556, homeskillet, SingingWolf and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yea if you hit somebody, you and your boss both may go to jail?

I would think you could be in in a lot of trouble and if you really want to drive for a living don't do it again.
They have absolutely no sense of humor with that type of thing because you not only are driving without a CDL, you also are a driving a safety-sensitive position that is not part of a drug testing Consortium. I would also think if there was an accident any insurance company would never honor the claim and I could only imagine the nightmare that could come out of that.
I'm sure there's a long list of things they could do to you with steep fines and problems and all that that you're not looking to be a part of.
Unless you are driving under the agricultural exemption. No CDL needed then.Alex12556, homeskillet and justa_driver Thank this. -
THIS HAPPENS !!!!

You can not get a cdl.

You will be taken, truck is towed and you will get charged with driving truck without CDL to start off there are about three charges that might be written about this offense.
This is not about your ability to drive a CMV. As long you have a learners permit, you must have a full blood CDL driver with you in a CMV. When you get your own CDL and so forth you are free to run on your own.Alex12556 Thanks this. -
