I was fresh out of CDL school and hired on with Trans Am (BIG mistake). They shoved the leasing program at my class and the majority fell for it. Been working 10 weeks and have had 2 positive checks and all the rest negative settlements. They leave me sitting waiting on a new load. They constantly swap loads. I can't get miles or cooperation from anyone. Night and weekend dispatch totally ignores you when you are trying to get a load. They simply don't care!!! I can't pay bills like this and they charge me over $1200 EACH WEEK in truck notes and taxes and fees for the privilege of being their slave. They have a walk away contract if you give 2 weeks notice and turn your truck in. I have had 3 straight negative settlements and not getting the miles so 2 more weeks of NO money will bury me. Has anyone just quit without doing the 2 weeks notice? Please if you have, tell me how they responded and what did they hit you with? If it is less than the $1200 each week I will go in the hole for the next 2 weeks...might be worth it to just walk.
What happens if you just quit a leasing contract?

Maybe you should take this post to the Trans Am section up near the top of the forum buried in one of the other sub-forums. Wish I could help you but this entire web site forum is full of warnings about doing the lease programs especially at some companies and by new drivers.
Curious ... what are you driving that is $1,200 WEEK total fixed charges? How much of that is for the truck and mileage charge itself? Must be a nice new truck? Nice new trucks sitting in truck stops empty don't mix. But look who I'm telling. -
2013 Kenworth and the truck note alone is $600 a week and then insurance, maintenance acct, breakdown acct, generator, satellite charges...list goes on and on. Sure they mix...they are getting their truck note paid and running the driver just enough to get a load or 2 delivered for them but not enough for the driver to make more than what he owes them each week. I will try to find where to post this better. Hoping someone has already done this and can fill in the gaps for me. Thanks.

Well the good news is once those escrow accounts are built up, a lot of that will stop. They charge additional for the APU over and above the truck? Is that a "lease-wtih-option-to-own" program or simply a "rental" program?
It makes no sense. Their corporate profits are determined by how many of their trucks (company or leased) are running at/near legal capacity. But it sounds like they've only got so much freight and quite a few "preferred drivers". Good luck, man. Hope things work out for you. Talk to "TransAmPete" here on the forum. (I think that's how his handle is spelled) -
2400 bucks a month truck note. What were you thinking? Oh I know... Drive the big trucks, make the big money !

yep...they are top notch BS artists...I mean salesmen.

All you are doing is paying their Truck note! Listen, if yo quit today, you still are going to be without pay for a while! give them thir two weeks and start finding a company driver jobfor orientation as soon as you leave this fraud company. At least you are having experience and protect that CDL and dont let them use you in dangerous loads the las two weeks!

It is basically a rental program. They say you are an independent contractor but you can't make decisions on anything and you have to do what they say regarding the truck. Yes, the APU charges are separate from the truck note. All of their charges totals over $1200 a week. Escrow accts are garbage...they take money out of your paycheck to fund them and I have read when people leave and ask for THEIR money back...they find everything under the sun to "charge" you for and people never see a dime of the escrow acct money. It is just a rip off from day one.

The tip of thr iceberg is a $1250 fee for terminating the lease without notice. After that, they will find everything in the world that is wrong with the truck and charge you for it. Have you tried talking to your DM about your miles? And if that doesnt work, then go to your fleet manager. Once you get the miles issue in check, you can talk to leasing about a loan which will help you get your head above the water again.
