They're sold to trucking co'.s in Peru, Argentina, and Mexico.
There used to be and probably still is a Truck dealership in Kansas City that would search all over America for trucks to send south. -
There are several acres of old trucks around Arkansas. Just rotting. One had a tree growing between frame rails for 20 plus years being destroyed by same.
In Auction days we moved some of the older rigs but suspect they are going export to other nations eventually. -
Fresh paint, decals, dump body....Guam or as mentioned, Vietnam via Cambodia.

I say this...
I value the old rigs. Why? Because there is something inside my head that is bent. Bent enough to think about a plan B or a alternative future if something bad happens. Such as a EMP strike against America. We will need every one of those old Air starters and air breathers without computers anywhere to keep the Nation going after all the modern stuff is fried. I guess I would have to step up and teach you young ones how to run them old things and it will be a joy. But... again. That is all I have to think on the old trucks. Just because they are old does not mean they are without value.Loose Leaf, clausland and bzinger Thank this. -
In the late 80s the kw dealer in Omaha had a lot full of Werner 362 fat cab Pete's and k100 aerodynes that sat so long the tires were sinking into the ground.
One day they were gone and I asked dick Hauptman were they went and was told they all went to south America .x1Heavy Thanks this. -
And Laredo is loaded with old saia and Clark bros trucks .

I remember the Old Greyhound buses were donated to churches back in the 70's.
In the 90's Greyhound never owned their buses, but they would all be sent to long beach and loaded on cargo ships to China. -
A lot of truth in that post, many will be like dying ducks in a thunderstorm when that EMP crap hits and they find not much works anymore.....

Around here a lot of old road tractors get the sleeper knocked off, and a dump bed installed, new paint, and are sold to wannabe O/O. These guys then either try to make it on their own, or contract with local aggregate companies. Very, very few of these folks last for five years. Most go bankrupt, and go back to driving for somebody else.
Some are used in smaller mining operations, and some go to farmers or ranchers.x1Heavy Thanks this.
