Truck driving - the only profession where you're guilty until proven innocent!

I’ve been driving buses and trucks for 22 years, in all kinds of weather on all kinds of roads in big cities and wide open prairies and over steep mountain passes…

And I haven’t killed anyone yet!

It's good to have a healthy respect for the equipment but don't let it become a debilitating fear. Pay attention to your training. Maintain situational awareness. Leave your ego at home. That healthy respect will keep you from getting complacent.

As I read through the ops comments, I think he has to learn that being cautious and too careful is worst than being reckless.

his “training” won’t teach him how to deal with 90% of the situations where he can harm others, it only comes from experience, and being afraid or worst yet overthinking everything will stifle that experience.

The old guy who put me in a drivers seat told me one thing, driving a truck is easy, it is knowing what to do when things turn ugly that isn’t.

    Then DO IT!

If what your "negative friend" is saying derails you, you're not trucking material.

You need to gather intel, plan, and execute many times a day, day in and day out.

Sometimes you have mere seconds to "execute".

But the more you drive, the more you'll be able to "read" the traffic. You can sense when the "stupid bell is about to ring".

Trucking is like anything else in life.....

You can do everything right, and STILL get boned. No point in worrying about it.

Quit sniveling, get your permit, get your license, and get to work.

Or find another line of work.

    Or quit trolling. Whichever.
