I did it a bunch of times, i can do only one of two things. meet the unrealistic delivery time, and get towed, or i can find a place to park and make it a late load.

on a side note, make sure when you are waiting to get your truck moved, that you stay on line 4.

btw, only company that was stupid enough to try and fire me ended up on the defensive end of an NLRB case. i hope it was worth the 18000 dollars to fire me.

Didja ever consider keeping the left door closed?
Instead of stopping at every choke and puke or den of ill repute?

Then maybe you wouldn't have to "call the wrecker to be moved from the dock".

Private property or not, they invited you there. If they detain me past my hos, then I will probably just stay there.

    That's why I call ahead.

It's hard to make demands on private property. You ease outside the gate or to the nearest truck stop. If you are on eLogs than make remarks you were forced to leave the property. It's a grey area of the regulations that's not addressed. You have entered the Twilight Zone! :)

You won't get a huge fine either. Maybe put out of service and a $150 fine if you did get caught. You don't go trucking down the interstate, but find something real close. Communicate with your dispatcher if you feel there is a problem.
Even in an audit you might get a hand slap. It's not a real serious violation unless you get caught and shut down.

A couple times I mentioned to the guards I was out of hours. If I get in a wreck you will also be held liable for making me leave. They went out of their way to let me stay there. Be nice and not threatening. Sometimes it might work.

In reality, the guard and the receiver would be in the chain of liability in case of a lawsuit. You would not have been there to have a wreck had they not made you move the truck; they hold a certain percentage of the liability.

HOPEFULLY, your dispatcher won't try to punish or "get even" with you. This can be a double edged sword.
