Great Frickin thread with a lot of Fair and knowledgable input.

My buddy is one of thee most Honest and Fairest persons to do business or deal with in personal life.

Can't believe he is the only one out there. As far as Brokers.

I have known him for 35 years. Yea he has some nice things after 30 years of this business, but I always thought he was the fairest hardest working guy in the world .

Until I got on this site 3 years ago and everyone was wanting to Burn the Brokers at the Stake.

I walked away astonished, feeling that I was going to see my buddy on the next American Greed, being that every freight broker was scum.

Work in the other mans Shoes for a day or a week. Cooped up in an office all day . Endless emails and incoming phone calls followed by endless outgoing calls. Invoices, mail, checks ,banking keeping the balance --Balanced.

    And than the Stress.

Come the 2 days you have away from that hell hole over a weekend and you thought you were going to be off, and your caught dealing with a problem with a load all weekend.

So much for getting your blood pressure under control.

Eh. I don't get too bent out of shape about the reputation of brokers as a whole. I just focus on doing what I can to do right by folks and take care of my family. I've made friends with customers and carriers alike because of the work I do, and I think that's pretty cool.

Thats insane. If im going to clear 3 grand on a short over night run, expecting the broker to only gross 200 is just crazy. We both have to make money or it isn't worth doing for either of us.

I would never use that carrier again. Id also try to fine them for dropping off the load, tho i figure that can be just as tough to collect on as it is for me trying to collect on detention.

3 grand on a overnight run? That's impossible. If you're taking about long hauls then let the 40 cents per mile
    mega corporate drivers have them.

I get a minimum of $500 on a maximum of a 200 mile run almost every day. Most of the time more money and less miles though

It ain't impossible. Doesnt happen every day but it does happen. example: Emergency aerospace shipments pay huge.

Yeah. They got inactivated. As far as collecting on them, it's tougher even than getting your detention. Especially when there's nothing lined out specifying that in advance. The ####ty part is that yesterday I had multiple interested carriers. Today after the fall off, nobody. Back at it tomorrow.

Yeah, very tight timetables with delicate parts that need to go into fixing serious revenue generators... Lord knows I spent some time trying to get my hands on some aerospace accounts, lol.

Just for argument sake for fun.
    Cause brokers are important.

Why should your profit as a broker be more based on a percentage of the total of the shipment?

Its no more work that I can see than any other shipment.

Not trying to be difficult here just an understanding
