A breach of contract is a big deal to me. I would never give the guy another load, ever again. To be upset by that is justified .

Who the heck are you calling greedy? So the story is, you have a contract to fulfill at $4, and yet, YOUR OWN TRUCKS are not being given to you so that you can soak up other freight for 4.50, and then you expect the outside market to steady eddy it and take it at $3 ??? Who is the greedy one??? You can go ahead and just try to think you will ever have the upper hand, if you choose to be a whiny school girl instead of a business man and play the games of withholding the freight from someone you know is a good carrier and can save your bacon but you won't give it to them because they took the 4.50 when it was there, then go ahead - how long before you think that very same carrier will approach your customer now?? It's a dog eat dog world, you should know that

I wasn't whining about the rates. Its summer there good buddy, I get it....rates are up. All I'm saying is don't sweat me all winter for my good rates and then ignore my emails and phone calls in the summer and expect me to work with you again when the leaves start to fall. Ruffffff!!!!!!!! Rufff!!!!!!!! I just wanted to make a poetic post about ethics. Clearly I picked the wrong day and room to do so. ; ) But it sure has gotten a lot of replies, so the write was a good one.

I'm starting to wonder just how messed up these $4/mile loads are he's pimping. $4 on 50 miles ? 10 stops ? Wait all day to load or something ? I mean there is good freight out there but when even your own trucks are looking for something else there's gotta be more to this story !

And if there isn't something dreadfully wrong with the load the only explanation is complete incompetence. I mean the guys job is to get trucks there and he can't do it even with $4/mile pay. Pretty pathetic really.

I am looking at my numbers for the week..........They don't look very pathetic to me. My business is far from pathetic as well. I get my freight moved, last week was just a bad week. Trucks have loosened up a bit this week, I actually have only had to make 1 phone call to cover 1 load this week. Every other load that I moved out of 17 the carriers either called me for them or they are a regular that hauls it on a weekly basis. I was just venting last week.... but I can assure you dannythetrucker that pathetic is an antonym for what I am doing on a daily basis.

Well, we all have off weeks and some times things just don't go according to plan A, B, C, D ......

It says something about a person how they react in those situations, that's for sure.

I guess what struck a nerve with me in your well articulated rant was that it embodied a typical broker mindset.

It seems to me a broker represents me to the shipper, as well as representing the shipper to me. Brokers seem to embrace the idea that they work for the shipper and the carrier works for the broker.

Perhaps a subtle difference but to me it creates a sense of entitlement in the broker. very basic info like what the load is and where it picks up they act as if they shouldn't be bothered. I dare to say a broker rarely throws a rant of this nature at shippers no matter how poorly they treat the carrier.
