Nope no joke all those coolers are junk I love building and creating stuff been in the trades most of my life. I can build one that will keep the cold in much longer but I'm not sure I'd have time though.
What ice cooler will keep ice 5-6 days 20 qts?

I got one of those Coleman coolers with the metal band. It can keep food cold up to 3 days. When my wife puts in big blocks of ice from our deep-freeze, instead of ice cubes from the truckstop, it will last up to 4 days. I have not had any coolers last more than four days. Good luck.

If you just want something to keep beverages cold near your seat, you'll be far better off to get a decent thermo-electric cooler. No dealing with water and battery drain is virtually nil. You'll also save money in the short and long term.

You can get plug in 12v plug in cooler they work good for the cheap price of $135 you leave them plugged in 24/7 and they cool 40f below the can temperature. If you want to spend some money $500-$1500 you can get real 12v frig or freezers. Most have Dan Foss compressor that the trick those don't require lots of power to start or run.
Engel frig/freezers can go 90f below outside temp. So at 110f you can still keep stuff frozen like but 22QT frig freezer from Engel is $700Lepton1 Thanks this. -
An added benefit is you avoid the biology experiment when the ice melts and your food is floating in liquid that leaves a bacterial film over EVERYTHING. -

I used a 12v cooler for this exact purpose. I had a Colman but it was big and bulky.
I bought this one on Amazon. It is great. I can still step around it going into the sleeper. Keeps plenty of drinks cold.
When it occasionally ices up, I just turn it on heat and it melts the ice around the fan in about 5 minutes... then it’s back to cold. The fan is also on the top, not the side like the Coleman, so I can use it as an ice cooler if I ever needed to....and not kill the electricsLepton1 Thanks this. -
Just in case anyone wanted to know how those thermoelectric coolers work...

Finally a topic that's already on my radar...

I have a cheapo Coleman from Walmart with wheels. I buy ice from those small ice shacks. About 3 dollars for 20lbs. Will keep those safe for at least 5days. There will be water and ice. Don't drain the water. Put a thermometer in there if need be.
