What if former companies don't reply to prospective employers?

companies don't respont to prospective employers ALL THE TIME.

who wants to do the paperwork for a previous employee for the next 10 years. specially the mega carriers that literally hire upwards of 1,000 drivers every year.

It really shouldn't be that hard for a prospective employer to get info on you. Can you prove past employment with pay stubs, vehicle inspections, a PSP report? If you have been with an employer for any length of time it could be presumed that because they haven't fired your butt that you have been doing your job in a satisfactory manner.

I've had this happen a few times in the past, I think most companies generally expect it to happen and don't hold it against you. I know I once had an employer tell lies about me to prospective employers, I suspected they were because I got passed over for jobs I should have easily had. My Mom worked in HR for a company and called this employer for a referral on me. Last time I put them down on an app. I made a note that they were intentionally giving me a bad referrence.

See, this is what I'm talking about. So it IS a problem in the industry today.

Yea, I'm hip to that but I'll bet it reduces your chances of getting hired.

Not at all. You've proven you worked there. Unless you didn't hold a CDL during that period, it's a none issue really.

I've had to provide a W2 in the past. Companies close the door every day.

As far as the 3 attempt comment. The employer can safely state they gave a best effort attempt at verification.

As far as NOT being able to afford a lawyer. ANY lawyer will take a case, no money up front. If there is money to be made on the back end. Been there, done that too. Only took one letter to get that issue resolved. Cost me nothing...Pre-paid Legal covered the cost ($50) since no court action was required.

If you have paper logs... save them, they are proof positive you not only were employed there but drove too.

I think this is fair enough, I mean if they didn't employ you, they wouldn't be paying you, and if they won't tell thier aide of the story yours is the only one to go on.

More than adequate>lots of applicants have over a year of unemployment or unaccounted time.
