My company allows me to go home while under load for a few days at a time. I just park at my local grocery store and they don't have a problem with that. But my company only has 10 trucks too so they are laid back.
what if I live 100 miles from a drop point?

Thanks for replying. yeah I've heard many say that 3-5 days away from truck and you slip seat. was mainly wondering if drivers commonly park their 4 wheelers at terminals and drop lots so they can drive home. I can imagine this might end up being too many cars in the way but not everyone can live next to a trucking company so there should be some that acommodate. This issue could also be resolved if companies had arrangements with dedicated customers to allow truckers to park in their lot short term. I suspect that's a no-no in most cases.

Thanks for replying. sounds like you found a good one and an even better grocery store owner.

Thanks for replying. Ouch, it seems you're working (3 hr. drive) even when you're off. lol do you have to pay for the gas for that trip home? I'm looking at the same kind of mileage too but would consider parking car near drop point if it was a guaranteed location (storage lot for example-but not in detoilet). I'd hoped that big company terminals would allow space for truckers cars for this kind of issue but may be kidding myself.

Thanks for replying. It does seem like it ought to work out well on those rare occasions that I have the time to pop by the house, and even for "the company" to route me for days off. Parking is an issue unless a customer is willing to allow a few days of it. Considered posibility of leaving rig at a truck stop but that may be a bad plan.

Thanks for replying. Sad but true aspect of trucking when it comes to the wave comment, I imagine. Call the peeps for a meet and greet at a nearby truck stop would do the trick in a pinch in those cases, I suppose. Parking will be an issue for those sneaky occasions but will figure something out. Happy trails.

Thanks for replying and the tip. Will look into NAVL but suspect a lack of interest in a newbee. Food for thought after I do my time with big outfit.
