Got a phone call today. It was from the daughter she requests my presence to walk her down the aisle. Wedding is end of August right in the middle of our last float trip of the year. So looks like we will be floating north this time up near Kent, Seattle area. Then off to their wedding. This is going to hurt the pocket badly, but she is my baby and I would move mountains for her.

Yes, cutting fluid almost never hurts. Unless your dealing with aluminum... Then it just makes a mess.

True, but aluminum is a softer metal anyway so it probably wouldn’t even be necessary.

I did lots of hay for friends. For free.

I worked the beef/sheep farms at Penn State for three summers. All the summer employees help unload hay at whatever farm it’s being unloaded at. Beef/sheep/dairy/horse. Most of it was a very rough and stemmy alfalfa, heavy arse bales. They had 4 balers and 25 hay wagons going at once. Besides lunch, the only other break you got was when they were moving empty and replacing with loaded. And they baled into the late evening so you were guaranteed more work the next day.

Paid by the hour, but not enough.
