I remember going with my dad at under 6, (had not started school) to his work on grading MS10 (now MS50) out of West Point westward.
Do not remember the turn around point; but out, stop eat from lunch boxes, come back to State Shed. Adams leaning wheel grader, Allis Chalmers gas burning crawler. Great big old chain. Pete Echrode on the crawler; up in the road, daddy had us down in the ditches pulling them clean, me leaning to keep from falling off. I deliver to Sams Club stores a lot. Overnight runs and unload as soon as they start receiving (4AM) unless there is only one dock or a WM driver is there. Since this is my last week I am taking it easy. Took a daytime run. Loaded 2 hours early. Showed up 3 hours early to the store. They won’t unload early. My expected short day just got lengthened.
