Just got off the phone with my niece, she got her cdl earlier this month. She just finished her second week on her trainers truck and wants to go L/P as soon as she can. I told her that might be a bad idea but she assured me she's starting to "get it" so I'm sure it'll work out for the best for her.

Promote and transfer, is the Army way. No slot here for his new rank, so send him to another unit.

A lot of people were derelict.
Really makes me appreciate going through Refresher Training in Cuba all those years ago.
(Non-stop firefighting and damage control training for about two weeks. Whole ship.)
No way our crew back then would have lost the ship to fire. Especially in port. Are you freakin kidding me???

I will never forget aviation fire fighting.

They have an A-7 plumbed with sprinklers in a hanger.

    Pretty dark too.

Well this sprinkler system contains JP-5.

This chief organizes us into hose teams, then turns on the plane. You could smell the fuel. Then he tosses a flare into it.

    WOOOF

I'm like behind the nozzle dude thinking, " Holy F ####."

A few minutes in he comes up
"BOOOOM" "Ordance just exploded. This hose team is dead."

We lay down. The plane is still wtf blazing like 10 feet away.

Just like in that movie "We Were Soldiers", he goes to the hose team next to us," ALL OF YOU HESITATED !!!! YOU ARE ALL DEAD TOO!!!"

By the end of the day, you learn water can, and will beat that stuff back and extinguish it.

Haven't seen wheel of fortune in a long while.
Wife had it on tonight, we watched it together.
Pat and Vanna must be getting up there in age, but they are still looking good, I'm impressed.

You go through the Smoke House. It's designed same as a ship, passageways and compartments.

They light a fire and it fills with smoke, and you can't see your hand in front of your face.

And you need to find your way out.

That was the worst / hardest part of all the training.

    Worse than the gas chamber.
