In 1954; girl friend who became my wife, went to Memphis to work as a secretary in the Chamber of Commerce. Her dad was living in Mphs, worked as a carpenter at Millington NAS. Great time for her and the girls in the office. Not much pay, but they were in MEMPHIS... Worked in hotel with the ducks...
Story she told. Near end of month, before payday, all were nearly broke. So at lunch time, they would all empty their purses on one desk, count what they had, and dispatch one of the girls to White Castle or Krystal for food... Young, independent, making their way. I would come thru with a van or the old reefer, park it, cab over to her rooming house. We would go out to eat at a cafe nearby. She was telling me the after we married that she so appreciated the good meals.

 

Woman tells man sitting next to her on the train: Every time you smile, I get the urge to take you to my place....
He smugly replies.: Well, so it really looks as if we might have something in common....
She says: Yes, We do. I am a dentist....

 

Sounds like Rose Donna, before text msg/internet. She talked to you in person; in her trailer, parked on the side just below her sign on side of US45 North of West Point, MS. She moved south as week went by. Sign was a 2 x 2 foot plywood sandwich board. Said: Rose Donna, Fortune Teller, $5.00. A Gypsy gal.

 

Cheapest place to get dentures is at a funeral home , go to the back door. Tip , clean them first or you might taste tacos.

 

But you are there, and the Blue B can still be used?? Locally, short hauls, as spare....

Well it's Friday. I get twenty miles away from the yard Regen light comes on. Now I'm in the yard regenning.


Fun times earlier tonight

Older couple come in Big Hamburger.. Order 1 burger, smile and tell the waitress, "We will share..."
Fine, old people, nice quiet, probably limited finances...
Waitress carries burger to table and sits to rest. Notices the man takes a knife and exactly halves the burger, setting her half aside on the spare plate waitress had provided. Then he calmly begins to eat his half, chewing slowly and methodically. The woman is just sitting there patiently watching him eat. Time passes.

Waitress has some concerns so she approaches and asks: Is everything OK, could I help?? They both assure her all is well and the man comments on how good the burger is. More time passes..
Waitress is really puzzled, so she just strides over and asks the woman: What are you waiting for to begin eating, mam???
Woman replies... The teeth.
