    There's a Flying J / corndog thread that's an epic saga.

I would say, technically, yes. However, not necessary. Straight off the grill dipped in mustard is, believe it or not, sociably acceptable.

Imo, it CAN be considered the same "food group", but I do not consider a bratwurst on a roll to be a "hot dog".

I think the answers will be somewhat regional in nature.

I grew up with Ballpark brand. Oscar-Meyer was the backup brand. Dad had a standing ban in the house for Bar-S brand. Not sure we had any regional brands available at that time.

Most of the local pork product was Portuguese Linguica or Mexican Chorizo. Those producers are fading fast into history.

Current day: Hebrew National would be my go-to if it had to say hotdog on the wrapper.

I do have a preference toward Kielbasa or Polish over most any bologna sausage though.

Hot Dogs get yellow mustard and Dill relish, Polish and Kielbasa get ground mustard and dill relish. Either can get Tangy BBQ in a pinch.

I also tend to go for hoagie rolls over wonder bread type rolls.

Corn dogs are a different sub group. As are chili dogs.

Thanks Dave, That "all beef" is an important part that I left out.

We are covertly parked at the receiver.

The OM found a Chinese place and a Starbucks 2.4 miles round trip, not enough to see ELIZABETH.

I've been sent for a Kung Pao Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, and two Buckstars.

    The OM will be pleased.

Any Bar-S meat that I have tried has been horrific.

So much so that I actively discourage people from buying them.

When I worked at a Major Midwestern Grocery Store chain, Bar-S would occasionally have a HUGE sale, trying to unload their product at an irresistible price.

Customers would hold up a package of Bar-S hot dogs and ask, "Are these any good?"

I would tell them, "No. They suck. They are a travesty of a hot dog, even for the price. Follow me to the smoked meat section, I will help you find a brand worthy of your time and money".

Of course, there was no helping the seniors. Twenty packs in the cart at a buck a pack, two hundred "hot dogs" at two a day feeds 'em for a little over three months, for twenty bucks.

They might have been better off with the cat food......
