Out this way it was more dependent if you were in a city/higher density county property v.s. more rural.

The cities and higher density counties tended to dictate to the gas utilities to install the gas mains as roads and tracts were developed. Contractors would tap in, if convenient, cause it was good for marketing. There were a few pockets of properties where I grew up that were developed before WWII that did not have Natural Gas run in the streets. Utility company was trying to get those folks assimilated and would work with the water company to put in gas as the water mains were replaced.

More rural folks got to make the choice to add a propane tank.

This dirty, nasty driver brought his “support” dog into the Iron Skillet and they are both on chairs at the counter. If the dog is anything like his greasy, straggly hair……they need to burn the seats. And he’s on his headset. And of course he has his nasty vape contraption. Bet that thing is sanitary.

Lots of similarity in gas, phone, and TV. Had to get enough folks to agree to tie on for gas line, cable and in some cases landline pone.
Seems like investment gain and better installation methods have simplified it some.
Never understood the KY difference in water/U/G electric, sewer was to a gas line.

I was wrong. It’s not a support dog. It’s just a poor animal stuck with a sloppy super trucker. His phone conversation/language fits his look perfectly. What a tool.
