What if it Snows?

Pierson & Sons in New Florence, MO bought those old Brigadiers from LTL companies by the bushel basket. They put new vinyl door panels, headliners and RedDot back wall a/c units, put a dump bed or grain bed on, paint them and sell to unsuspecting buyers. He would bring every one to the Cummins shop I worked in and we'd roll rods & mains in and run the overhead....then he would tell the customers that we had gone through it and it was a good engine. He rarely fixed anything we found. I saw him replace a cam follower because of a tore up roller but not the cam that was trashed. He was a piece of work.

 

The sound of that Detroit brings back memories of my 1st Truck (Diamond Reo) powered by a noisy 318 lugging around 23 to 24 Tons every day

 

When I hear a 8v71 winding up I always remember the first oldtimer I worked for he always said those G## D### detroits would fly if they ever figure out how to get all that noise to the rear wheels.

 

We have a very hazy sky in the Dallas Ft Worth area today, the weather guessers on TV said it's from fires in western Canada.

 

How to drive a Detroit. First thing is slam your hand in the door. Then you'll be pissed off the rest of the day, you're ready to drive one.
