Crude tools for fine work. Bet you still light your pilot lights and grill with flint and steel...

In the Philippines you sometime see a utensil on the eye of a stove. It has been used to cook rice. It has boiled over during the cooking process as noted by the solid line of dried rice trailing from it's top; down the side of the stove, and puddled on the floor. This white line of rice residue is sometimes the route for a column of ants to ascend to the top and into the utensil.

All else aside, why don't the ants start at the floor and devour the rice upward. Self feeder as the person tosses in another measure of rice, brings it to a boil and cooks away.

"Far away places, with strange sounding names..." offers insight to some peculiar customs.

Yesterday my Dad got ahold of me about a custom belt he wants built. He wants me to replicate a tooling pattern from his custom saddle he had built 35 years ago.
    9119.jpeg

Belt will be made with a Herman Oak top layer and backed with a Latigo or Horsehide inner layer. It will have 2 rows of circles down the length of the belt, an extra long billet, and double keepers.

When covid nearly killed him he gained a bunch of weight while he was off work for 6 months so none if his belts fit anymore. Now hes loosing weight, hence the extra long billet and double keepers.

He's going to buy me the stamps I need to do this project as payment... Even though he doesnt need to pay me for it, he insisted.
