Old Franklinton, LA. If one was in Canton, MS with a "heavy" load of Hi D cotton for NO, LA, that's the route. Old 51 down to McComb, 98 to Tylertown, 27-25 to Franklinton, 16/41 to Pearl River and come out on the RR tracks across from the G/hound station in Slidell.LA. Miss the man at the Poplarville, scales..
Two things.. It was open range and all kinds of scrawny livestock slept in the warm asphalt (+snakes) etc. It was VERY SPARSELY settled, vacant as my head, and if you broke down, die of old age before any one came along. (Or at night anyway, why we run it.) We actually run 2 or 3 in convoy for that reason..

I don’t think it’s changed much in 60 years. I used to load paper in bogalusa. That was back when I was just a wee trucker and it was all still an adventure.
