LOL stuff hasn't changed since I was kinda looking at Austin area in 1988/1989.

Drove through the area in the summer of '88. Kinda liked it so picked up a paper to leaf through. Most want adds were for minimum wage jobs. An "executive house" in Round Rock was $45k. Chatted with the guy at the realty listing it. It was bank owned. They were just trying to get people moved into a bunch of bank owned places so they were not vacant. Told me they would be happy to take the tent trailer I was towing as a partial down payment.

Got back to Cali and ended up talking with a programmer type from the Austin facility that had stumbled across some Data Base stuff that I had written to make my job easier. As we chatted, asked how long he felt the facility would stay running. I did some research and asked the network of friends and co-workers, and we all came to the conclusion the plant would close within a couple of years. A boss from down there called me few days after and asked if I was willing to relocate to the Austin facility. Told him no but that I could work from corporate and commute/fly to Austin as needed. Plant closed in 1991.

 

Came in the house and saw this on the counter. I'm like WTF is this crap?! Sandy says, oh, that's for my Mexican friends coming over..... humm... they don't buy Coors when I go to their house... but whatever

 

Think it's about time to start cooking some shrimp before the meat goes on
