Or is it worth it to me to come off of $7?
Sometimes you have to understand the difference between silly and less silly.

Indeed... But I have been known to use company funds to purchase $50 of tools to patch something together long enough to get the rig home, rather than spend 3 days and $2k for a repair shop to fix it on the road. That was an interesting on to explain to the payroll gal... She couldnt comprehend why I should be reimbursed for those tools. The shop foreman AND the owner had to explain to her that I was to be reimbursed for ANYTHING I deemed necessary to get the load delivered on time and/or the truck home.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and sort it out later. Dang the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
And if I don't get my $7 back, no big deal. Look, it's $7.

I agree, but too many people out there feel if they can get away with not paying for your time and tools for their work once, they'll repeat the cycle. There are carriers that won't reimburse their driver for a mudflap, but will pay Loves or some other shop to put 1 on.

That kind of thing insults my intelligence, and is difficult for me to overcome.

When i did all of dude's local work, they asked me to go to Albuquerque cause some dude fell off a load.

    Okay.

Well, the money grubbing ho in the office paid me by the mile, instead of my hourly.

And i was like," Ummm. No."

So the owner grabs me, gives me a couple c notes, and says just keep it on the down low.

He's we're good right? I says yea money wise, but I'm not into sneaky ####.

Yeah that never did make sence to me... $25 back to the driver that shows inititive, and tries to keep the companies bottom line in mind.... Or $150, plus delays, for a shop to make the simplest of repairs. SMDH

Hell I changed a brake can on the side of I-80 in Nebraska at night, lying on a patch of ice... Took less than an hour. Saved the company a couple hundred bucks and saved myself time and frustration. Ive always been of the mind, "Come hell or high water, you take care of those who take care of themselves."
