Stelling $45k out of petty cash send up all kinds of red flags. The travel center more than likely only had petty cash needs of maybe $500-$700 a month, so when this guy starts to have over $3750.00 per month increases in petty cash needs it is a red flag.

 

It's amazing to me the number of business owners who have no idea someone is stealing from them.
Recently the was a very small operation in Florida (less than 20 trucks) that had like $1.8m go missing over several years.
Just HTF do you miss $1.8M?
Unbelievable.

I have a theory on a current pad.

They order more sand then they are using, resulting in us sitting for 2-6 hours. The sand yard is only 20 minutes away.

The sand area on pad is so small that they can’t stockpile as many sandboxes as they normally would. So they are using us as free storage instead. We are staged 2 miles down the road. They have the sand close and we drivers get banged in the rear end.

Just a small group of trucks could haul all the loads and they would never run out because of the close sand yard. Man is this aggravating as heck.

 

John Deere dealer in my hometown lost millions over the course of 25+ years to their old bookkeeper. It was never discovered until his daughters started to take over the business and they found it. The lady had retired and they were never able to track all of it down because it was done when the books were kept in Daily Ledgers and cash was more widely used.

 

And he keeps 68%?

 

My FIL owns a bar outside of Ft Worth. I asked him how much his bartenders steal. He said about 25%
