And get trained to do the job— there is no training in Open Shop and what you get is a bunch of youngsters that have potential but no direction— most wouldn’t know how to put a tool belt together— but have developed an attitude and there’s no one around to adjust that attitude. Spent most of the afternoon yesterday with College of Tech instructors with real world experience cooking hamburgers and hotdogs— general consensus is that we are on the edge of a monster cliff and we haven’t seen anything yet when it comes to shortages and decay

 

"Show Up" on the New Orleans docks.. Can look over the offering and those that can stand up straight, lift their heads to see who he is picking, and move over to the gather, may be able to do a days work. All others get a flat amount just for being there, Why it is called "Show Up"

Started out of high school with Bryan Bros Packing. Left West Point at 2:00 AM, eat breakfast along the way (Winona) and at Uptown Mkt in Greenville unloading 1st stop before 7. Made the deliveries and done by about 5, ate, retd to plant by 10:00 PM. 72 tickets for small store meat orders. Had helper. Some places we could park and walk deliver 4 at a stop. Heaviest box was 35 lb box of Hormel neck bones. Young, stout, aggressive.

 

The OM wants an acre somewheres around Flagstaff now.
