Then again, this will be my first winter in a Pete 389. I can already tell it has a tendency to squirrel around a bit in loose sand or mud. I will do my due diligence and find a snow and ice covered parking lot the first chance I get to do some bobtail Brodies, then hook up to the trailer and see how the heavy lowboy reacts. No need to be going all virgin like on the roads.

If she is a long pete like I had in my time one winter (Temporarily) you will be working that steering a bit.

A couple of acres of playtime on ice or snow should settle you down right quick. I do the same thing myself to this day, just don't tell the big boss I am throwing 120K of his equipment around in circles and figure 8s so I don't have to worry about the mountain in winter storms.

If you got airride everything then it probably moves around a bit much above the frame, something to take into account.

Empty parking lots in the snow are great. That was the only thing I liked about driving in the snow when we were up north. Gotta do a couple donuts before you get your trailer to make sure the steering works..... it's part up the pre trip...look it up lol.

My very first time at the wheel of a car was in a snowstorm. My brother took me in his little Fiat (Fix It AGAIN Tony!) with four on the floor. He cut me loose to figure out the limits of traction in a Piggly Wiggley parking lot in the middle of the night.

Fiats are great. I have a 68 Spyder, only have to keep like three spare cylinder heads on the shelf to make sure I can drive it every once in a while lol.

Yep. It's air ride. I may need to tweak the placement of the 5th wheel. These last few months I kept it all the way back in case of front overhang.
