Well I have a pipe dream to own my own truck. Yet I am sick of working for mega carriers. Local work isnt happening either. Alas I am 7 months driven 11 years ago and a squeeky clean license. Some places are starting to consider me yet they are "come back when you hit 350". Doesnt help the here and now. So I plug on the best I can with what I have.

Grin, this also includes trying to put a Massey Fergusson model 40 Industrial tractor together that needs $400 to get the crankshaft polished from differred maintenance. Isnt life fun???

 

Oh and Dave was willing to listen and possibly help me. Alas that 11 years out of the cab is coming to bite me.

I recall the pics of that tractor and you're lucky if polishing works...but we already talked about that.

Just as long as it never has a rod knock again. Then again the last mechanic put the engine together with out a bearing on #2 cylinder.
I had a VW mechanic look at the crank. He agreed that the local shop when polishing the crank will be able to tak 0.005" off and get it to 0.010 under. Ok, we used micrometers and didnt just "look at it" Grin
