    Lots of then old guys just "hauled." Not a lot of transportation education degrees, but native intelligence. Shrewd yhey were.
    As it developed, Charlie Deaton built Deaton Truck Lines in B'ham, AL. Sold it to some investors for a long ton. They did not
    ask for or get a non compete. Charlie proceeded to open B & M Express (Birmingham-Memphis) and continued to haul...

    My FIL sold his trash collecting business to some dude at a strip bar that he owned.
    The next day, dude comes in and says, "Hey man! Where's my trucks????!!!"
    My FIL says, "You need trucks? I got them too."

    So was he on the Ft worth side or on the Dallas side of the metroplex? Ft Worth - Ft Worth Vending Dallas City Vinding they were both owned by the same "outfit" and had a hand in that type of bars back in the day.
