Here is the basics of a marinade recipe that you might like. You can also use it as a mop during cooking. If you save half or make a double batch, you can put it on after cooking. Just don’t use the same batch you marinated any raw meats with.
What you need. A base and an acid. It is a 2:1 ratio. 2 parts base to 1 part acid.
The base can be any type of oil. Olive, avocado, canola. You get the idea.
The acid can be any type of citrus juice, lemon, lime, orange. Any type of vinegar is good.
1/2 cup acid, 1 cup base. Add a good pinch of salt to this. Now add any dry spices and herbs you like. A little brown sugar or molasses if you want to sweeten it up a bit.
