So— Big Daddy came up yesterday to do a bid review on a big project we are about to jump into and after it was done and he was satisfied we weren’t going to bankrupt him, he took me and my boss to lunch— during the course of lunch he asked how we thought our branch was doing— my boss said “Great” and Big Daddy asked him to drill down a little deeper and he kinda fiddle farted around and I jumped in — “Well Big Daddy here’s the numbers”
In the last 4 months we started with a volume of about 2.2 million it’s now 13.4 million
Our profit margin was about 13% it’s now 32%
Our overhead was about 17% and it’s now about 11%
Seems to me that we’re doing just fine and he agreed— said “Maybe you should be the Area Manager and I said if you even think about that I’ll be gone so F’n fast there won’t even be a vapor trail to follow”—PR is important, but performance is where the money lives
