Wouldn't be the first or even the second splitter I've built... But would probably be the best... Learned quite a bit building the first 2. First one turned out the best functionally, the second is better cosmetically. The next one will have the best of both machines.
But what I really want to build is a firewood processor. Put 7 to 10 foot logs in one end and splits of desired length (up to 18 inches) come out the other end. Can buy some cheaper ones for $15k to $20k... Figure I could probably build one for about $7k to $10k (maybe a little less if I can find the major components used or discounted due to overstock) plus my time.
