I'm running 8' sections of CPVC, or I could be running a long section of PEX. I only have to run one section to my knowledge. But the PEX looks easier. So I had to buy new cement and primer. The old cement settled out from 2 years ago. PEX I could have avoided that.

I’ve always been a company driver. Never could make the risk worth it on paper to strike out on my own. For something local say 75 mile radius I’d still in essence need to go through all the things as if I was getting my own authority correct? I’ve heard there’s exempt commodities but don’t know much about it. What would I need to make money with it. I’d have to get my own authority? I understand I’m good as long as I’m hauling stuff for my personal use but showing up to the mulch yard or gravel yard repeatedly would probably give me away even if I dealt strictly in cash with folks. I’ve hauled a few loads of stone for friends but that was a one or two shot deal spread over several months.Feedman, Dale thompson, IH9300SBA and 5 others Thank this.

I’m not totally sure what you would need. I don’t think gravel and mulch are exempt commodities. So you may or may not need authority. And that also depends a lot on your state and if you may potentially cross state lines. You would definitely need commercial insurance. And possibly a dot number. Either state or federal depending on if a state line would be crossed. Then you will have to maintain a time card for hours of service compliance.
Now all of this may change if you actually purchase the mulch or rock. Then resale it to a customer. IDK.
Truthfully around here you could get away with farm tags and liability insurance for the most part. It would be fine until you go through someone’s septic tank. And it would be tough to get on with any paving or construction outfit.
Then you have to figure out if you have enough actual work in your area for a single axle. I don’t think it’s steady enough to do it legally with the correct insurance and stuff. At least not in my areaFeedman, Dale thompson, hope not dumb twucker and 7 others Thank this. -

Can't smoke indoors WA, OR, either
Ca. You can only smoke indoors if its owner operated but most of them have gotten away from it too due the hassle of law enforcement and cry babies.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 26, 2025
