Someone tried to explain it somewhere here on TTR I think. They were talking about how they do the sound and mix it for the movies has changed due to all the digitization and computer stuff. I kind of followed along but not enough to explain it. Kind of along the lines how vinyl records sound so much better on a quality old school stereo system than music does when it was on cd’s or over the internet or computer. It’s not like the old ploy where radio or tv stations have made the commercials louder th as n the programs sometimes. The guy explaining it could’ve been full of BS but it made sense the way he explained it. It was way more than just digitization too.

It drives one nuts when you’re watching a tv show and when the commercials come on they’re blaring:confused:

Was using Starkey last 4 or 5 years. Had Beltone before. Now have Phonak provided by the VA.
Beltone was good back then, but pricey for their actual benefits. Seems like 2800 to 3K then.
Were molded to fit deep in the ear and not real comfortable. Wax would clog the little inserts.
Always felt the audiologist was as interested in the price range as in matching my needs.

Starkeys are made in Eden Prairie, MN. Price was around 4K in 2020/21. Lady audiologist was super and over the 5 yrs I felt she was as interested in my benefit as the selling. Over the time; after 3yrs, one messed up and was rebuilt at factory in one week for $275, with 2 year warranty. These had a tube, with little umbrella shields, and replaceable wax filter in there. Remote adjustable. Very comfortable vs Beltone.

I finally got the VA to acknowledge my hearing loss was due to being housed in a building with lots of high speed/freq communications equipment for 2 years 1959/61. Was shopping Starkey at about 5K when VA came thru. Was pricing the hearing aids, rechargeable, with remote adjust and bluetooth to phone. These Phonark units have the over ear portion, the tube down toward ear, but the end in your ear is more pebble shaped than pointed/pushed in. Just plop in into your ear and it sits there, no penetration. Mine are in my ears, phone lying on desk or in pocket. Phone call, look at phone, press phone to answer. Lay phone down or put back in pocket, walk off talking to you. You hang up cuts me off.

I heartily recommend the Starkeys, unless a vet, go there.. Any further, PM me and will be happy to advise.

Mending... It's still a little stiff amd sore... Doesnt like to be wacked or bumped. Doesnt particularly care to be in a glove either... But it functions, mostly.
