I made that mistake too with a bag phone. After the 2nd 2-300$ bill I ditched mine.

Depends on what the gauge monitors. Can be helpful in anticipating problems by its readings drop. Warning lights like oil pressure, it is there or or it is gone.Dale thompson, Dave_in_AZ, broke down plumber and 3 others Thank this.

Not tryna be a dick, but that gets my hackles up, because truck drivers should know the correct spelling.
You might be using voice-to-text, or fighting your autocorrect......in which case, I apologize, and I'll shut up now.
Case in point..... autocorrect tried to change "fighting your autocorrect" to "fighting your autism"....Feedman, exhausted379, IH Truck Guy and 12 others Thank this. -
Personally, I just prefer steam gauges.
And I still use a crt telly. With a digital converter box the Fed'ral gummint gave me a voucher for.... -
I traded my empty to another driver who was out of hours, and ended up with his trailer, loaded with liquid whole eggs.
This load is nearly a full day late, and I figured I'd be sitting here in the yard until The Orb goes down in the west.
However, I have just been informed by plant personnel that there is a tanker currently unloading, and when he pulls out, I can back in.
Still might be a coupla hours, but at least it won't be "Orbset" -

The glare when the sun hits them.... Worse than the chrome trim ring around the gauges.
At night, can't dim them down enough before they just shut off.
Data presentation. I typically dont give a crap about an exact number. I have a clue what an acceptable range looks like on a gauge.
I will never have an Apple product, Told Jobs his Lisa product was a pile of crap way back then. My opinion is since then most of their products have not improved.
I dont have a large flat screen at home. I watch crap on my lap top.
Other thing for me is, if they are a touch screen I have to take my eyes off the road too long to find an icon. Can just hit he third switch from the left from muscle memory. And I prefer the tactile feed back of a switch over waiting for the computer to respond.
Last phone I was happy with was my StarTAC. Had to give it up when they started shutting of the analog towers.
One of my criteria when I last shopped for a pick up was I wanted a metal dash board. That way the only tech in it would be stuff I added.Last edited: May 19, 2025
