I have never posted to this thread. I've always enjoyed reading the banter back and forth. But I now feel like I need to respond to this post that you made. If you're able to take SS at the amount that you said, I say go for it. We are not getting any younger. Both my wife and I retired from the Teamsters Union. She retired at 58 after having been an office worker as Sysco Foods for 30 years. She claimed her SS last year at 62. I retired last year from Univar Solutions as a tanker driver for 30 years. She claimed her SS at 62. I will claim in March of next year when I reach 62. Together, we will have about 10k coming in. There's no reason to stay in the rat race any longer than possible.

 

I too started to receive my $3200 this year in March. Waited till I turned 66.5 so I could still work full time and draw that also.

 

Sometimes you just need a really long brake to get cought up on rest.

Very good advice. I will add have taxes taken out of your SS check or be setting some back for it. Wife and I are both getting SS. She retired couple years ago, I'm still working. I started SS when they sent me a letter saying I could keep working and it wouldn't affect my SS check. I think I was 67 and 8 months old when I got the letter.
