    I was part of it. World's Fair in Vancouver.

    Green Somebody opposed USS Ranger with a sailboat.

    It got turned into drift wood / plastic.

    I would think you'd run over pretty much EVERYTHING with an aircraft carrier.

    I was on one of the 4 USCG 41-ft boats enforcing the "moving security zone" around the USS John F Kennedy when it departed Boston Harbor after OPSAIL '84. Basically just "chasing the gnats away".

    We were on her starboard side, about 500 yards off.

    They asked us to vary our position relative to the carrier frequently, move forward, drop back, change speed, etc.

    "OK, Kennedy. Anything specific we should look for?"

    "No. We're just practicing blowing you guys out of the water."

    BIG ship. BIG......

    Can’t remember which one it was— Kitty, Connie or Ranger— that tried to run over a whale and it stuck on the bow and EOD tried a couple times to blow it off but evidently whale blubber is explosives resistant— it was a #### show
