May have put this here sometime back, but fits in here.
Dr calls plumber at 3 AM. My 3rd floor toilet is leaking badly and I need you.
Plumber tells him to close the cut off valve, he will be over after 8 in the morning.
Dr say that is what is leaking and it won't stop. 2nd floor is getting wet. I am serious on my need.
Plumber says well, guess that would qualify as an emergency. Dr says it dam sure is.. Come on...
Plumber says: Well, emergency call out at 3 AM is 1K. Dr replies, Man, I am a brain surgeon and do not get that kind of money...
Quiet a moment as the plumber mulls that.. Then he us back..
Brain surgeon, huh? We could talk. I was in that before I got in plumbing....

 

But you are still here, and able to drive another day. Some aren't. Their loss... A lot to be said for surviving...

Ya want steep, in the east. Let me dig up Centreville, Al and outline it thru town till they bypassed. Be back..

@NightWind Do you recall or know of the steep hill in Centerville, AL. In say1955; going in on 82, was right thru town business district and then almost straight up thru the residential area and on out to Montgomery. They revamped 82 in later years to (as I recall) to skirt the town down lower south .
Thing was, Bryan Bros had 9 drivers. All but two of them would coast down to 1st gear and climb it alway up in 1st. Would not try to shift it. Similar to leaving Athens ,Ga. Crossing the river on 29 and in 50 feet dropping em 2 at a time to get in 2nd to go on up. And that if you came off the river bridge at 30+. Any thing on the pull in Centerville you know of, please add it here. It was the most straight up thing I've ever been on in the east.
