There's a video that says 33% ( that's 1/3 for okiedokie and Opus ) of people that bought homes in 23' and 24' are underwater on their mortgages.

I keep getting offers to refinance at 5.8% so it will save us money.

    Our mortgage is 1.98% fixed.

It's math, so I give it to The OM.

Before inflation arose and the last time I was shopping in Kroger here in Tupelo, June 2024. (Get fed all 3 here now, don't cook)
Those pineapples were 2 for $5.00. Pricing is "beginning" to unwind, select products-various pricings points.
A large local high dollar department store here, offered straight 20% off STOREWIDE certain listed days this week.

We are seeing the unwinding of the shot up prices because:
Demand had dropped off- People do not have adequate money. Credit cards are maxed out and any savings depleted.
Merchants have inventory since demand has dropped, and are desperate to convert goods in store to cash in hand.
And it is nut cutting time for a lot of them. Why hang on fighting it for just making less, more employe grief, public stealing
Sell it down over year ending. 12/31 decision day, close and liquidate/BK.

    Interesting thing on credit cards....
I have had a Chase card for many years, 15 to 20 I imagine. Never knew nor applied for, but once got a nice letter that they were raising my credit limit to 10K. I honestly doubt if in that time, I had ever failed to pay in full each month.

(At about that time I fooled with buying parts from Tiger Direct in FL, building friends and business associates desktop computers. I would order,
receive, build, deliver, and they pay . This might overlap due date, so I would pay half, collect my sale, then pay balance complete next cycle.
Interest on the due portion less than $10. Cheap simple financing..)

So time passes and around last August I got a letter that they were reducing my limit to $7400.00? Fine, a convenience account; handy for around 5 to 600. Just last week, I received a letter outlining they were adjusting my limit down to $4200.00 , as it was more in keeping with my buying habits and possible needs. They reassured me , I was welcome to use the whole enchilada, justs an adjustment.

Now; all this time, I have carried a Capital One card with 10K limit. I assumed they woke up to my 90th birthday and thought I might load up and die on them. Just makes me wonder as to what computer algorithm examined my credit files and reached this conclusion.
